Red Alderwood, Fall 2021.
In the fall, I felt, sturdy and confident, yet at times also a little stuck in my ways. The choice of the shape and material reflect this.

Manufacturing Process
First, I glued 3 round blocks of red alder wood together, Then, I used a combination of bandsaw and power carving with an angle grinder to make the rough shape. Then, I used a chisel to form the groove around the midsection of the piece. Then, I smoothed the piece with sandpaper. Next, I used a propane torch to blacken some sections, including the bulbous end, where I alternated with the torch and sandpaper to achieve an interesting “soft” finish
