The Store N’ Slide is a dresser-playset hybrid that allows children to play without the danger of a tip-over accident. Children ages 3-6 will love the rock wall, ladder, and slide!

The Store N’ Slide was created for a class, DSGN106-1, or Design Thinking and Communication, which is the first class in a sequence of two project design classes.

Our group of 4 was paired up with an organization called KidsInDanger, which is a group that aims to alleviate furniture tip-over accidents through advocacy. They tasked us with preparing a design solution to the problem of tip-over accidents

In essence, we were to solve the problem of child injuries and deaths with dressers by constructing one that would not tip over when a child climbs on it. In fact, we wanted to create a dresser that would even encourage children to play on it in a safe and secure manner. With this purpose in mind, our final design was reached by talking to many parents of small children to gain their input on what an ideal playspace-dresser combination would look like and by using multiple stages of design and survey. We wanted to keep the end-user in mind throughout the entire process in order to ensure that our group remained true to human-centered design.
