Keith Haring is one of my favorite artists, so I aimed to do a study on him, using his aesthetic and style, and my concepts. His work is very appealing to me because it is universal and easy to understand, while also focusing on complex, often personal themes. In my mind, Harings’ figures are the most universal humans, devoid of identifiers but still able to act as humans do. With these things in mind, I set out to make a haring-esque sculpture that described my internal feeling.

Arenas
What does it feel like to live in an arena of your own making? What does it feel like to monitor yourself? Is an arena a constricting boundary or the center of artistic freedom? I prod at a fundamental tension in my life. What is the role of self-criticism in a sustainable life? How do you set goals without being upset if you do not achieve them?
The figure reaches out towards the mirror, maybe to confirm if he is the same as it. Of course, they are connected, so when he realizes this, will it be a relief or a terror?
