I went to a local rock shop in Chicago and came back with some awesome spherical polished rocks, one copper and one quartz. However, I didn’t have a good way to store them on my desk because they would roll off. So, I set out to design something to hold them on my desk. Drawing on the imagery of the moon and ocean spirits from the TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender, I created a design with the two fish spirits “swimming” above the white lotus image, another image from the series. To achieve a bold look, I printed the base out of two different filaments, swapping colors halfway through the print to make it so the raised edges of the base piece stood out from the background. I then printed the two fish spirits, one in white and one in black, and snapped them into place on the background.
